Do you ever wish you had the ability to charge multiple devices with your car? Well, now you do thanks to the SUNGLIFE 150 Watt power inverter. The folks over at SUNGLIFE were kind enough to send me two of their new creations, both are 150 Watt and convert 12 volt DC electricity into 110V AC power!
So, the first thing to know about the SUNGLIFE 150 Watt power inverter is that you have two options in what size they come in. Model CR-91001 is circular, while model CR-91002 is squared off. Aside from the obvious difference in shape, to my knowledge I can’t discern that there is any other noticeable difference. The differing shapes of the inverters may be useful to fitting the inverter into your particular vehicle.
Both models of the SUNGLIFE 150 Watt power inverter sport two 110v three prong power outlets, great for anything from charging a laptop, a small cook top, or any other variety of normal appliances you would normally plug into the wall (the options really are endless). Then, there’s two 2.4v USB power outlets, and then a coveted QuickCharge 3.0 outlet, which is ideal for getting your cellphone charged in a hurry. I love that there are a total of 5 charging ports on this device, it really allows for quite a wide variety of electronics to be able to be charged at once. An added bonus comes in the form of an a female 12 v cigarette port on the side of the unit – so theoretically you could buy two of these and daisy chain them together to double your charging ports!
The inverter is powered within a car via the 12 V cigarette lighting port. Just like you would plug in a car charger for a phone. Then once you’ve gotten your various electronics plugged in, merely tap the power button on the center of the inverter and it will begin to glow blue, indicating that the power is flowing!
My test for the SUNGLIFE 150 Watt power inverter consisted of charging a Samsung Galaxy s9 (at 22 % battery at the beginning of the test) an HP laptop at 46% battery, and a pair of MIDLAND two way radios that were at an unknown charge level.
RESULTS:
After approximately 45 minutes to an hour of driving around and charging these devices, the phone was charged to 98% battery, the laptop to 76% and the walkie talkies were fully charged! This was great as it allowed me to juice these items up all while I was driving around doing errands. At one point, the inverter kicked on its onboard fan, which is used to keep the inverter from overheating. The fan ran for a few minutes and then automatically shut off after it had achieved the desired internal temperature.
From a survival perspective, I really like these inverters. The notion that even in a power outage, as long as you have a functioning vehicle and alternator (and the fuel to run the engine) you can at least be able to charge up the most important devices in an emergency. Likewise, this would be a great item to have while camping (car camping to be specific) because as long as you have enough gasoline to keep the engine idling, you essentially have your very own 110v generator! Kudos to the folks at SUNGLIFE for letting me test these inverters out, and please be sure to check out SUNGLIFE for all of their cool products and gadgets!
