SPIKA Handheld Spotlight Review

Welcome back survivors!  Today, I got a chance to test out an absolutely amazing product.  From the Australian outdoors and hunting company SPIKA, I present to you the SPIKA handheld spotlight.  I was absolutely astounded about how awesome this spot light turned out to be – so let’s check it out.

  • Beam reach distance: 600 M (1968.5 ft)
  • Beam brightness : 1200 Lumens
  • Battery: 3.7V 4Ah rechargable lithium
  • Operation time:  2.5 hours
  • Reflector size:  140mm
  • Beam pattern :  Spot light / beam

  • Water resistance rating: IP 65
  • Color temperature: 6000-6500K
  • Charging time: 5 hours

The first thing that struck me about the SPIKA handheld spotlight is how lightweight it was.  The battery doesn’t weigh this thing down at all, and holding the spotlight is very comfortable and hassle free.  There’s also a mounting thread in the bottom of the handle if you’d like to affix the SPIKA spotlight onto a mount of some sort (I could see this on a boat, for example), so that is a nice additional feature in case you want hands free operation.

The instructions state that for the initial charging before use, it should be charged via the included USB cable and wall plug for 10 hours.  The USB charger has a light indicator that glows red whilst charging, and turns green when a full charge is achieved.  I found for my experiment that the light was green after about 4 hours of having it plugged in (it was partially charged out of the box).  On a full charge, this light will operate for 2.5 hours of continuous use.

Coming back to the light itself, it’s a lightweight polypropulene housing, which gives it a good grip and helps maintain its water resistant nature.  The lens itself is made of Polycarbonate, and it feels rather strong and not easily broken even if you were to accidentally drop it.

Of course, the real question in regard to the SPIKA handheld spotlight is:  How well does the light work?  And the answer to that is amazingly.  Seriously, I was incredibly impressed with the  power and range that this little spotlight has.  I took it out on a clear dark night (see the youtube review above)  and I was able to clearly see details in trees and buildings up to 200 yards away.  The design of this spotlight directs a very powerful, focused beam and I couldn’t believe how clear I was able to make out details of the things I was pointing the light at.  Unfortunately, I also didn’t want to freak out my neighbors so I had to be kind of careful not to be pointing it into other neighbor’s homes.  There is a new construction house near by that I was able to utilize for my testing as it’s not currently being inhabited.

This spotlight is an invaluable addition to any prepper or hunter’s gear – this really gives me a little peace of mind in the night in case I need to investigate a strange noise outside, and reach out further than a traditional flashlight or headlamp would allow.  Quick safety note though, this thing will blind someone. Do NOT point this at people’s eyes or stare into the beam yourself, as I  have no doubts the power of this light would be enough to if nothing else temporarily blind whoever looks into the beam.

SPIKA spotlight - awesome night light!
powerful, lightweight and good battery life make the SPIKA handheld spotlight a great survival product

As far as being able to navigate yourself at night or track an animal in the dark, this light would be tough to beat.  The combination of the power of the light along with the light weight make this a great item for anyone’s outdoor kits.

SPIKA also makes other hunting accessories and products, you can check them out here.
