Audew Multi Function Jump Starter Review

Hello happy campers!

Today I was lucky enough to get contacted from someone at the company Audew, who was kind enough to send me one of their Audew Multi Function Jump starter units to play around with and test.  If you’re not familiar with this kind of device, it’s basically a compact, high powered battery that you can use to jump start a vehicle with a dead battery.  These jump starter units are invaluable to have on long or remote car trips where you may not be nearby to a friendly motorist who would be able to help you jump your car with the more traditional jumper cables.

So, off the bat – the Audew multi function jump starter is compact and comes in a sleek, carrying case that easily would fit inside most vehicle consoles or underneath a seat.  Within the carrying case is the battery charging unit, two Type C USB cables, and the jumping cable units.  The whole package is about 475 g  (just over 1 lb) and is roughly the size of the original Game Boy video game devices.   (6.5 x 3.5 x 1.5 inches)

The Audew multi function jump starter has a few key uses – primarily, it’s a way to start your car.  Excellent!  In addition, the jump starter has two USB out devices that can power cell phones and other small electronic devices.  One of the USB out’s is a fast charging spot, and I tested this with my Samsung S6 phone, which was at 25% battery power at the start of the test.  Within about 40 minutes, it had charged up to 77%!  Not a bad ratio at all.  The instruction manual states that on full charge, the unit can charge a newer model iPhone 5 times fully.

The flashlight on the Audew jump starter is utilized by holding down the power button for a few seconds to produce a bright constant beam.  Another touch to the power button will begin a quick strobe effect, and one more touch to the button will produce a long, slower strobe light effect – great if you’re stuck in the darkness and in need of signaling down some help.

Now, the real test was to see how the Audew multi function jump starter performed while trying to jump start my vehicle.  Because I did not want to fully drain the battery of my 2004 F150 truck, I instead opted to disconnect the car’s battery fully by removing the connection of the negative terminal.  This in essence simulated a fully dead battery.  The jump starter unit has a small “boost” button for just this type of application (the boost button is more easily accessed by using a key or pen to hit it, as it’s similar to the tiny reset buttons on other electronics)  The engine in my truck cranked and turned over, and fully initiated on my second turn of the key.  Very impressive I was able to get my big truck started just using the power from this tiny little charger!

the Audew jump starter also doubles as a powerbank for your phone and other electronics.

Overall I am pretty thrilled with the Audew Multi function jump starter and I plan on keeping this as part of my every day vehicle carry – And really, the price is a rather small one to pay when you consider the frustration of being left out with a dead car.   Trust me, if you’ve ever tried to go and turn on your vehicle to hear the dreaded “click” of a dead battery, this thing is worth the price paid.
