Another Estwing joins the family! I was so stoked to get another Estwing Axe ( my Estwing Tomahawk was getting lonely, so I decided to get him a buddy. While the tomahawk is great for smaller jobs, the Estwing E45A Campers Axe is a real heavy duty tool for the outdoors. If you’re looking for a hefty axe for splitting firewood and other camping tasks, this blue beauty does a great job at a very reasonable cost.
The Estwing E45A Campers Axe comes in two sizes, 16 and 26 inch variants. I opted for the bigger version, and it’s a real beauty. It’s well balanced and feels great in your hands, due to Estwing’s fantastic rubber grips they put on their tools – so even if you start getting sweaty you can keep a great grip on this axe. The finish is a lovely blue hue on this axe, and it is nice that it’s a light color just in case you drop it or leave it in some thick brush, since blue will stand out like a sore thumb next to other natural elements. Weighing in at about three and a half pounds, the axe is light but due to it’s full tang design, it’s got incredible strength when the user’s technique is on point. The back end of the head of the Estwing E45A Campers Axe provides a broad hammer like surface that’s excellent for pounding stakes into the ground or other hammer like activities.
So, if you’re in need of a great axe that will provide you the ability to swing with two hands, and a lot more chopping power than a hatchet or tomahawk style axe, you should certainly look into a Estwing E45A Campers Axe. For the relatively low cost, I doubt you could find a more well put together tool for your yard work or camping activities.
