Columbia River Knife & Tool CRKT M16-03Z Knife Review

A few weeks ago, I had a real estate class that I was attending in Elizabeth, Colorado.  Elizabeth is a little to the south east of where I live, which is on the edge of the Denver metro area – and when you get to Elizabeth you feel like you’re in a far away place.  One of the things I like the most about this town is the unique little antique shops, where I found this next knife I am going to review.

I had remembered my mother buying me an antler handled knife at this store, so after my class I decided to drop in and see if they had anything.  I wasn’t disappointed!  The owner had a spiffy little knife that kind of reminded me of Boba Fett’s, so I decided to shell out the 20 bucks and get it.   I had no idea at the time, but it would quickly become my favorite EDC (every day carry) knife – and what kind of a knife is it?  Well, it’s a CRKT M16-03Z knife.

The Columbia River Knife & Tool, or CRKT M16-03Z knife is a really functional looking and solid feeling knife.   The model I picked up in the antique store was a little older, and had a bit of rust on it but that was easily fixed up – and even though I can tell this knife is a little older, it’s in incredible shape.   The blade is made with AUS 8 58-59 HRC steel, and the handle is composed of a glass reinforced nylon.

It’s light weight and thin, so it’s a very easy choice to put in your pocket for carrying around every day.   The blade length is right at 3.5″, which is perfect for being able to legally carry in my home state of Colorado.  The locking mechanism of the CRKT M16-03Z knife also features a little lever so you can lock the knife into open position for added safety.

Moreover, this knife just looks bad ass.   The handle has several circle shaped holes in it (presumably to lighten the weight a little bit, but it just has a really cool look to it overall in my opinion.  I am glad I wandered into this little antique store in Elizabeth, Colorado and found this knife – honestly I had no idea this Columbia River Knife & Tool company existed.   My suggestion?  Check them out, I think they put out super high quality knives!
