Hello campers! I couldn’t help myself, but there was this little thing called Prime day last week… so what the heck! You know what I have been needing to add to my bug out bag? A cooking set! And wouldn’t you know it, I found two separate ones I am going to review for you now. The first one will be the subject of this post, and it’s the Arcadia Camping cookware set.
Right off the bat I was impressed with just the packaging box (I am an advertising major so I always appreciate good graphic design). It’s sleek and sexy, and Arcadia, I love your logo! Now that I’m done drooling over the box, let’s get down to the brass tacks here. The Arcadia Camping cookware set has everything the single backpacker needs to make a decent meal out in the bush. It includes:
- 1 pot
- 1 frying pan
- 1 metal lid
- 2 plastic bowls
- 1 plastic soup spoon
- 1 bamboo handle spoon
- 1 “cleaning loofah” aka – a sponge
- 1 nylon carrying bag
- 1 folding steel spork
- 1 firestarter
Not a bad little kit! What I like most about it, in all actuality are its looks and compactness. The whole package is about the size of a normal salad bowl. All put together, the items create a kind of stacking base, with the frying pan at the bottom, and then the pot holding the other items in a nice compact fashion. The pot and frying pan of the Arcadia camping cookware set have dual folding handles with orange plastic grips, which obviously are useful for keeping the set compact and easy to store.
The plastic bowls are small but adequate, and the soup spoon takes a little getting used to as it also has a folding handle (squeeze the metal parts inward when unfolding, I almost broke it on my first try with my barbarian like strength). Do note that the metal lid only fits on top of the pot and not the frying pan. The Arcadia camping cookware set will find the most use for making single meals for a single person, don’t expect to be hosting a giant feast by cooking with these. Having said that, I think it’s an awesome item for your bug out bag if you want the ability to whip yourself up a hot meal out in the wilderness.
